Cable Burn Down Instrument “CBD 2” and “CBD 7”
Both instruments are provided with high impedance short circuit proof transformers which are monitored by a two stage thermal switch. On reaching the max. operational temperature a visual indication is given after which the instrument cuts off. By means of 6 electro magnetic switches with very short switching times the coarse voltage steps are selected and switched over without interrupting the output. Fine voltage control is carried out by means of a variac in the primary circuit in series with the ammeter for control of the burn down operation. There is a short circuit spark gap across the output terminals which discharges any cable charge after switching off the instrument.
Both instruments are designed on the 19” rack mounting system and can be used individually or mounted in a test van. The post burn down voltages of 50/60/220V make it possible to burn down on low voltage cables on which consumers are connected.
