LINE PHASE DETECTOR  Model LPD-33

Convenient kit to test both underground and overhead live cables.
The Basic Functions are as under :
* To verify system voltage
* To detect in-phase / out-of-phase parameters between two lines
The Kits are available in two versions :
1. Dedicated Unit : Suitable for a particular system voltage 11kV, 22kV & 33kV.
2. Versatile Unit : Suitable to Test Lines of 11kV / 22kV / 33kV in a single Kit.
Optional : Suitable to test lines of 6.6kV / 11kV / 22kV in a single kit.
The main instrument consists of high impedance components - epoxy cast encased in two Fibre glass hollow tubes. The units are available in two configurations.
Config A :
For INDOOR as well as OUTDOOR applications. In this configuration the LPD contact probe can be bent at convenient angles of 45 deg. or 90 deg. for use inside a switchgear panel.
Config B :
For OUTDOOR applications in this configuration straight lengths of 1.5 mts each of the phase probes are used.
For testing overhead lines another 2 mts. extension can be fitted to this standard probe. (Please specify configuration and lengths of probes in your order).
The instrument has a 5 meter long cable connecting the voltmeter and the probes and can be wound on the spindle mounted on one of the probes.
The instrument will be supplied with either a soft bag or a wooden box complete with manual. (Please indicate your choice in your order).
Principle of Operation :
A capacitive divider network is formed inside t/he upper section marked `A' in the drawing. A small voltage derived from this is brought to the instrument for indication of voltage/phasing measurements.
H.V. Rod - Line one is connected to the instrument and when the rod is touched to the H.V. Line/terminal, the indicator meter show the line voltage.
For phase checking the instrument is switched to the voltage measured on LINE ONE. The second rod is connected to LINE TWO. When the two Rods are now connected to the two cores to be checked; the meter shows whether they are in phase (near zero deflect) or out of phase (near full deflection). If one of the core is not live, the meter, will show in centre. Line two rod, when connected, switches the equipment automatically to phase comparison.
Safety Feature :
In case of any flash over, the flashing voltage will be discharged through the earthing point & no harmful voltage will be at meter or user end.

Other Accessories :
a) Checking Device : Battery operated tester to check H.V. rod and the monitoring unit.
b) Hand Gloves : 2 pairs of hand gloves of suitable HV grade.
c) Earth leads and connecting leads.
